Hastings Fire-Rescue operates in an ISO-3 rated community. The depatment is comprised of 28 full-time firefighters supplemented by 33 paid reserve firefighters. Crews respond from Lincoln Park and Highland Park stations offering fire protection for the 13.67 square miles and more than 25,000 people of Hastings, Nebraska.

Firefighters are trained to provide an array of services to the community including: fire emergency response, hazerdous materials incident response, high angle and rope rescue, confined space rescue, vehicle extrication, water rescue, ice rescue, basic life support emergency medical services, building inspection and planning, and public safety education.

In adition HFD administration has applied for and recieved several hundred thousand dollars of federal grant money, making improvements to fire stations and equipment to better serve the community.
